Contraindications to Massage

There are a few factors which would prevent you from having a massage treatment.  They divide into 3 groups.

Total when a massage CAN NOT be given, as doing so would spread their condition or symptoms to other parts of the body.  They include:

.Contagious and infectious diseases
.Fever
.Under the influence of drugs or alcohol
.Diarrhoea and vomiting
.Cancer
.Tuberculosis in the joint
.Cardiovascular condition (Thrombosis/Embolism)
.Neuritis
.Recent operations or acute injuries

Local when they are localised to a specific area of the body.  The area must be avoided.  Some of them are:

.Varicose veins
.Skin diseases
.Undiagnosed lumps and bumps
.Bruising
.Inflammations including arthritis
.Hernia
.Cuts or abrasions
.Sunburn
.Undiagnosed pain

Medical conditions require written permission from the client's doctor before a massage is carried out.  Some of them are:

.Oedema
.Epilepsy
.Bell's palsy,trapped or pinced nerves
.Hypertension/Hypotension
.Heart condition
.Psoriasis or Eczema
.Diabetes
.Osteoporosis
.Nervous or psychotic conditions
.Gynaecological infections
.Any condition already being treated by a medical practitioner

A free confidential consultation is carried out before any treatment, to ensure there no contraindications and that the treatment is the most suitable for you.
