What should you do at Joy Holistic? Plenty of time to relax and enjoy!
Your Treatment
. Shower before all treatments, facilities are also available at Joy Holistic.
. Refrain from shaving before any treatment involving a scrub.
. Inform us of any medical conditions, medication or if you are pregnant.
. Turn off your mobile in consideration of your therapist and of your treatment.
. Plan to arrive about 10 to 15 minutes ahead of your scheduled appointment to allow for a brief consultation prior to treatment where, together, we can establish the goal for treatment and customise the session to best suit your needs and preferences.
. Remember, your comfort is of the utmost importance and this is the reason to let the therapist know of any concerns or apprehensions you may have.
. After discussing goals for the session, your therapist will leave the room and allow you to undress to your level of comfort. The choice of how much to leave on or take off is always up to the client, as is the depth of pressure and choice of techniques. . . Feel free at any time during the massage to check in with your therapist and to give her an update on how things are feeling. Would you prefer more pressure? Less pressure? Open communication is the key to a great treatment.
. Finally, once treatment is finished, your therapist will leave you alone in the room to regroup and redress. It is most important to take it easy, not only getting off the couch, but also avoiding any strenuous exercise for the remainder of the day.
. Most important of all, make sure to drink plenty of water after the massage session.
Why is it so important to drink plenty of water after a massage treatment?
Naturally, our body is in a constant state of renewal and repair. Throughout the day, every cell is working through the metabolic process and therefore, wastes need to be transported outside of the cell. Some of these cells are not close to bloodstreams, and can sit in their own metabolic wastes for long periods of time, due to lack of movement within the tissues.
Massage increases circulation and flushing through the tissues and moves wastes away from the cells toward the circulatory system.
Increasing water intake is crucial to flush the additional ''debris'' out of the body so those toxins don't resettle back into the tissues.
